The State Government’s plan to rapidly transform western and Central Uttar Pradesh into the hub of the auto and electric vehicle industry is being implemented in full swing.
Recently, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced the first UP International Trade Fair, which will be organized jointly with the India Expo Centre and Mart. The fair will be held under the aegis of India Expo Centre and Mart located at Knowledge Park-2, Greater Noida. It is pertinent to mention that the big names of the automobile industry such as MG, TATA, KIA, JBM and MINDA are expected to take part in the fair that will boost the enthusiasm of Auto sector.
According to a report by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on the latest vehicle sales data for the period April to June 2023, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the sales leader with a 10 per cent growth in passenger vehicle sales. The State has registered a significant growth, with two-wheeler sales increasing significantly by 17 percent.
The commercial vehicle and three-wheeler segments have also exhibited strong growth, each registering a commendable rise of 10 percent and 12 percent, respectively.
The UP government is not only promoting the automobile sector but also working to make the state as the first state in the country to have 100 percent EVs in government departments. Action has been initiated to convert vehicles used in all government departments to EVs in a phased manner by 2030.

The government of Uttar Pradesh has set a target to promote the sale and use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, to encourage EV vehicles in the state, the government has made a provision for exemption in tax and registration fees for three years on the purchase of EV under the notification of Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022. At the same time, this discount on the purchase of EV manufactured in the state will be valid for five years.
UP International Trade Fair can be marked as another huge initiative taken by the State Govt. to encourage electric vehicles and vehicle manufacturers in the state. Not only the big names associated with the automobile industry will mark their presence in this fair, but the small businessmen associated with the industry will also attend the fair to take the benefits of mega event. This will not only benefit the Automobile businesses in the state but also create new employment opportunities further.
