A few days back Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that every district in the state is connected with a medical college, aiming to provide better healthcare access to the population. This statement came up as a beacon for the Healthcare and wellness sector in the State.
During the inauguration of a hospital in Gorakhpur, CM highlighted the commitment of the double-engine government towards improving healthcare services for the people. He put forward the plans of the UP government to increase medical facilities. While referring to the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, he emphasized its effectiveness in enabling those who are marginalised in society to avail themselves of treatment in both government and private hospitals.
The commitment of the state government to serve the last person in line with better and more economic healthcare services seems to be being worked upon in the next leaf of its efforts, which is the UP International Trade Show (UPITS 2023), which is being jointly organised with India Expo Centre & Mart. This trade show is bringing the biggest players in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors together to thrive in healthcare services in the state. The government of Uttar Pradesh wants nothing less than world-class treatment and health facilities for all its citizens.
Since the CM Yogi Adityanath, is very concerned about economically weaker sections that previously faced challenges in receiving treatment at private or corporate hospitals, transformation in Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College is the manifestation of the word that the leadership of Uttar Pradesh has given. Between 2017 and 2022-23, the state witnessed the completion or ongoing construction of 59 new medical colleges, surpassing the mere 12 government medical colleges established from 1947 to 2017. Also, the establishment of super-speciality services at the medical college and the opening of an AIIMS in Gorakhpur are such great achievements.
Furthermore, the medical colleges are being established in the remaining 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Four districts are utilising the public-private partnership mode for medical college construction, while plans for six other districts are in advanced stages.
UPITS 2023 will prove to be a catalyst to boost the healthcare sector with world-class health service providers like Apollo Hospitals, Dr Lal Path Labs, and Radicon Laboratories Ltd. Not just that the biggest players in Ayurveda and Naturopathy like Patanjali, Shree Baidyanath Ayurved, and Nirog Pharma Pvt. Ltd. have also shown interest in participating in the event. There is an entirely different segment for Ayush sector, namely ‘Ayuryog Expo’, in the trade show that will exhibit different products and services in the various categories of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy and other streams of natural science of health and wellness.
The overall objective is to ensure enhanced healthcare facilities for the common man, the poor, and the weaker sections of society.
